We gratefully acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our volunteers at Hope Ignites Colorado.

Their dedication helps us in our mission of making a significant impact within our community.

This month, we highlight the work of board member, Carmen Quintanilla. Most recently, Carmen was part of the Mission, Ministry and Diversity team at Regis Jesuit High School and saw upfront the work that Hope Ignites Colorado does to help first generation youth.

How long have you been a volunteer with Hope Ignites Colorado and how did you get involved with the organization?
I have volunteered with Hope Ignites for 3 years. The idea of helping young people reach their highest potential is mind blowing. Scholars who are not part of Hope Ignites Colorado have so many obstacles and difficulties in accomplishing their goals. Hope Ignites Colorado eliminates those barriers. I love that not only do the scholars’ lives change, but that the families’ lives change too as they become part of the dynamics involving the students and their activities during and after high school and college.

What do you like most about volunteering with Hope Ignites Colorado?
I continue to support the program because I believe in the mission and knowing that the scholars of Hope Ignites Colorado are on the right path to a future full of opportunities. When they study hard and have the support to focus on college instead of being distracted by things that do not serve them, there is hope that they will be able to choose what their career paths will be, instead of having decisions made for them. They will be able to give back to their community, but most importantly, to their parents who have given up so much for them. It is an honor to be on the Board and to witness the great steps the scholars are able to accomplish day by day!

What gives you hope?
My children and the young people who study hard, become leaders, become young professionals with high moral standards and who will one day be in charge of developing new technologies, creating art, inspiring their children, and living a full life.

Thank you Carmen for your dedication and support of Hope Ignites Colorado.
Your dedication to our scholars and their parents is priceless. We appreciate you!
