Throughout the summer, Hope Ignites Colorado scholars have been engaged in a number of activities that have them out and about even more than usual! Summer is the perfect time for these in-depth interactive opportunities that can be difficult to schedule during the regular academic year due to our scholars’ classroom and extracurricular commitments.

EnvisionU in NYC
Hope Ignites Colorado rising seniors joined other rising seniors from across the Hope Ignites Network for a week at St. John’s University in New York City.
Together they explored the city, learned about the college application process, completed community service projects, and practived their networking skills. They also explored a college fair full of Colleges and Universities that partner with the Hope Ignites Network.
Camp Miniwanca
In mid-June, several Hope Ignites Colorado scholars attended the American Youth Foundation’s National Leadership Conference at Camp Miniwanca.
This annual eight-day conference brings students together to develop, practice, and implement leadership skills that they can use throughout their lives.
Scholars are encouraged to attend all four years that they are in high school to build on their skills and complete the full program.
Junior Achievement
Hope Ignites Colorado scholars went to the Daniels Fund Junior Achievement Dream Accelerator. Takeaways included learning about Colorado visionaries and picturing their strengths using selfies and word-art.
Scholars got a reality check with lifestyle decisions (what kind of car, what kind of housing) and matching that with potential salaries in their desired careers.
They also had a chance to visualize their dreams and collect some goals to attain their dreams.
